Instead, let me point out that I now have a Resident Alien Facebook Page.

I’ll publicize my posts there as well as on this blog, and I will post some related things I come across, as well as shorter thoughts I feel like sharing. You can post things, too, although I reserve the right to delete postings I find too offensive to myself or other readers. ‘House of Cards': Spicy Locales at Lo-Cal Costs

Originally posted on Variety:

The glossy and rich Washington, D.C., locations of Netflix’s “House of Cards” can be found all over Baltimore, thanks to series location manager Patrick Burn.

Burn, based in Takoma Park, Md., not only finds the locations but also makes the deals for them and most important, makes sure they are cleaned up when the crew leaves.

He began his career in the early 1990s as a PA on local shoots, and learned a lot on season three of “The Wire,” which shot in Baltimore.

That was a baptism of fire, as the gritty drama filmed in local crack houses, alleys and run-down neighborhoods.

“There were several times when we were scouting real crack houses and shooting galleries, and all of the sudden, there were vans of production people coming into these unlikely neighborhoods,” he says.

Sometimes, locations can be too real.

“For ‘The Wire,’ we’d be shooting in an alley…

Here are 25 facts about J-Law that will only confirm why you’re so obsessed with her. Because why wouldn’t you be?

1. Jennifer Lawrence made her name as a Sundance darling, appearing in indie films like Winter’s Bone and Like Crazy, which won the Grand Prize at the festival back-to-back. However, her first ever role was on The Bill Engvall Show on TBS, playing Engvall’s daughter, Lauren. The show aired from 2007 to 2009, when it was abruptly cancelled. This is probably for the best, because in 2009 she landed the lead role in Winter’s Bone, which would debut the following year, earning her first Oscar nomination. STUDENTS GIVE ASUU AND FG SEVEN DAYS ALTIMATUM.WHAT CAN STUDENTS REALLY DO?

Peeved by almost two-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), yesterday issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government and the union’s leadership to resolve their differences or face serious consequences.

The students said if the impasse was not resolved within the next seven days, it will mobilise students on a nation-wide riot in what it described as ‘operation occupy Nigeria’.

The students’ body appealed to ASUU to return to the classroom and continue negotiation with the Federal Government since the latter claimed to have released over N100 billion for infrastructural development and another N30 billion for allowances.

This was the highpoint of a protest by the students who blocked the Asaba end of the River Niger Bridge to press home their demands. The protest caused traffic snarl for several hours as the students stalled movements to the eastern part of the country even as those returning were barred.

NANS coordinator in the South-South and South-East, Comrade Chinonso Obasi, stated that students were at the receiving end of the strike and vowed that they would take their destinies in their own hands if the parties failed to reconcile within a week.

“We are appealing to ASUU that since the Federal Government has been able to release N100 billion for infrastructural development and N30 billion for allowance, they should go back to classroom and continue their negotiation or agitation. This is our prayer and wish.

“We are giving them one week to open the schools or be ready to face corrosive consequences in form of nation-wide demonstration and riots. We are ready to mobilise for that and it will be operation occupy Nigeria,” he said.

Lamenting the effect of the strike, Obasi said students have become prone to accidents on the highways and the female students have been reduced to sex hawkers on the streets.

His words: “I stand to tell you that a lot of accidents have been recorded and 99.9% of the victims are Nigerian students. If they were in classrooms, they would not have fallen victims of road crashes.

“Our female students have become commercial sex hawkers on the streets in order to make ends meet. This colossal effect is more than what ASUU is agitating for. Hence, we can no longer fold our arms and watch things go wrong.”

its silverdowed

its a little story about how i stopped smoking.. when many people see the innocent silverdowed, they be like this dude looks just too innocent and aint wayward but tell you what behind the looks was a rugged nigga. a dude who smoked like it didnt matter to his liver but then its so funny how i changed

it was on a cool saturday, i needed to take bazz(smoke) before going to the toilet and tell you what seriously i could not go to the toilet without it.. i got to the old woman’s shop and told her i needed 4sticks of london(i mean the popular local white london sold in nigeria) and beside me was a little gal of about 6 years old who was sent to come and buy egg. just as the MAMA gave me the cigar(i mean ciggarate o cos i never get money for cigar that time), i looked at the girl and noticed her shaking her heads and making that pitiable sound your mom makes when she’s tired of scolding you. i ignored her looks and went ahead to answer to the nature’s call. getting into the closet, i lit the bazz(hehehe) and then started to do what i knew how to do best. Suddenly i could see the head of the little girl nodding at me from the smoke and in my head i could hear that pitiable sound she was making. Then a voiz in my head interpreted the sound to be ”So its this promising young man’s life that is going with this flames like its. Suddenly it struck me that i was doing something wrong and even a little girl like my younger sister noticed it and i did not. I could not help feel sober as i threw the smoked and unsmoked cigarette into the water closet..

Yes, thats how i stopped but it was very hard for me but the voice kept reminding me that i am a young promising fellow and i didn’t have to end up with heart or lungs failure later in life….

bottom line is YOU TOO CAN STOP…Some of my nijja fellow takes this stuff not even minding the head and dust it brings to the lungs…Be informed, smoking kills even faster that AIDS when it is ripe for attack…

love yall much, Silverdowed
